Embracing Equity: Celebrating International Women’s Day and the Pursuit of Inclusion and Empowerment08 Mar 2023
Today is International Women’s Day, a day to celebrate the accomplishments of all women and acknowledge the challenges and inequalities that they face. Millions of people around the world will attend events in support of this year’s #EmbraceEquity theme, pushing us to do more to promote equity and inclusivity.
At Evolve FM, we intentionally strive for equity through opportunity every day, under the leadership of Australia’s first female CEO of an IFM business, our CEO, Amy Castro. In an industry dominated by men, we are proud to have female representation at every level, with 63% of our staff being female.
However, we recognize that there is still more work to be done to truly #EmbraceEquity, promote diversity, and create an inclusive environment where women can thrive. Today is not just a day for performative feminism; we must continue to challenge behaviours that hinder inclusion and equity, such as everyday sexism, unconscious bias, sexual harassment in the workplace, and domestic violence.
Each one of us has the power to actively support and #EmbraceEquity within our sphere of influence. When we embrace equity, we embrace diversity and inclusion.
Take a moment today to consider ways you can support and stand up for the women in your life, and let this not just be a one-day event. Let’s use International Women’s Day as an opportunity to commit to ongoing improvements and support this year’s theme of #EmbraceEquity, which perfectly aligns with Evolve’s vision of Equity through Opportunity.
Today, we celebrate the exceptional women in our lives, but let’s also make it a daily practice. We acknowledge, support, and encourage their achievements, knowing that they are paving the way for future generations.
